Amazon Fresh is set to cut prices on over 200 products across its 19 stores to help shoppers save during the cost-of-living crisis.

Everyday items such as free-range eggs will see a 20% reduction in price, along with products across Amazon’s own-label selection such as its seedless grapes.

Hovis, Yorkshire Tea, Innocent Drinks and Uncle Ben’s Rice are among the big-name brands seeing a price slash, while a range of household essential products will also be on offer at 20% less than their original price.

Looking to make meals more affordable as food price inflation broke the 10% barrier for the first time this month, the grocery retailer‘s price reduction campaign will offer customers a ‘Dine in for Two’ deal for £5 and lunch meal deals from £3.50.

This comes as Morrisons is investing over £100 million as it cuts prices across 150 of its most purchased products, both instore and online, in a bid to help make customers’ money go further.

The lower prices will cover nearly 6% of Morrisons total volume sales and offer customers an average saving of 14%.

Discount grocer Aldi has also recently pledged to help its shoppers through the rising pressures of the cost-of-living crisis by prioritising lower prices over short-term profits.

“It’s in times like these when our customers rely on us the most, which is why we’re focusing on continuing to deliver our longstanding price promise by offering the lowest possible prices in Britain, every single day,” Aldi CEO Giles Hurley said talking of the pledge, which was announced earlier this week.

Speaking of the crisis, retail expert and The Retail Mind director, Ged Futter said on Linkedin: “Inflation will continue to rise at record levels, we are no where near past the peak this year and with interest rates now expected to hit 6% we can expect to see significant changes in customers shopping patterns.

“They will be relentless in their search for value and if they think a retailer is too expensive they will leave and not look back.”
