Trigo, the checkout-free tech firm, is launching new management software designed to track inventory in real time using in-store cameras and alert retailers to empty shelves.
The Israel-based computer company unveiled it is developing a system called EasyStock, which reduces “laborious and often manual inventory management processes, shrinkage, stock taking and replenishment,” the company said.
Being a partner of Tesco, the leading retailer would not confirm if it is using the inventory tracker at its checkout-free GetGo store in Holborn or its colleague store in Welwyn Garden City.
However, Trigo confirmed that its existing retail partners – which include stores in Germany, Netherlands USA and Israel were testing the solution.
“It is the first great example of how computer vision empowers physical stores with the same kinds of insights that e-commerce stores have,” Trigo’s co-founder and CEO, Michael Gabay said.
He added: “This is a level and type of real-time insight that retailers simply don’t have today.”
As well as being able to “limit shoplifting,” the solution could also predict when a store would be out of stock of a certain range of items, the company added.
Trigo wrote on its LinkedIn: “The EasyStock product is part of a range of additional products that can run on top of our StoreOS platform.
“It is another advancement to using computer vision and AI technology to enable brick and mortar stores to benefit from the same insights and analytics that digital stores do.”
