Big 4 grocer Tesco is set to trial new space The Bakery in six of its largest stores as it looks to further showcase its improved products and packaging.
Looking to repurpose space within its stores, the new bakery format will provide a new area to offer limited-edition products and a range of items which have been reformulated.
Much of its bakery packaging is also set to see a re-vamp, with some products now displayed loose across The Bakery, as it looks to continue its plans in reducing product packaging and limiting waste.

Offering Tea Time Treats, Everyday Favourites and Tesco Finest Signature Bakes, the trial will take place across Tesco stores including Amersham, Brackley, Edinburgh Leith, Hatfield Extra, Hayes Bull Bridge Extra and Park Road.
“We’re delighted to trial our new bakery offer with customers in six of our large stores,” Tesco category director for bakery, James Waddy told The Grocer.
“The aim is to showcase new and improved products, offering customers great quality and value for all occasions.”
Tesco has also been increasing its range of healthier bakery products available on store shelves.
Earlier this month, doughnut brand, Urban Legend announced its range with a 50-75% reduced high in sat, salt of suger (HFSS) content in comparison to rivals on the market would be stocked across the retailers London stores.

My local store, Park Road, Liverpool, has pulled half of the range from this new format of bakery. It is now limited to a couple of sourdough versions and a couple of rye loaves. Not really what I was expecting!
