The world’s largest brewing company AB InBev has announced the launch of its new non-alcoholic beer, Corona Cero.

An expansion of the Corona brand, the drink is now available in ten European markets as Corona’s biggest cross-market launch to date.

Catering to consumers who prefer an alcohol-free beverage, it can be purchased in each of the Big 4 grocers.

According to the company, the beer offers the same taste as its 4.5% ABV counterpart, Corona Extra and is best served cold with a wedge of lime.

“Corona has always been an invitation to enjoy more of life’s great moments outside, with close friends and a beer in hand – of course, there’s lots of occasions where we don’t want to consume alcohol while we do this. It’s all about giving people as much choice as possible, exploring our natural ethos even further and staying responsive to what is a rapidly growing category,” Europe corona marketing director Irini Komodikis said.

AB Inbev, which is responsible for other beer brands including Budweiser, Beck’s and Stella Artois, delivered double-digit revenue growth in 2021 for its non-alcoholic beer. In the past five years, its alcohol-free beer portfolio has expanded from 26 to 42 brands.

To reduce the harmful use of alcohol, the brewing company created Global Smart Drinking Goals with an aim to ‘ensure no or lower alcohol beer products represent at least 20% of AB InBev’s global beer volume by the end of 2025.’

Komodikis added, “With the European launch of Corona Cero we now have even more options to encourage a culture of responsibility among our customers and a worthy addition to our growing range of no-and-low alcohol beers.”
