Corona expands portfolio with first non-beer beverage

AB InBev brand, Corona has unveiled its first ever non-beer drink.

The Corona Tropical drink, consists of a lightly sparkling alcoholic drink made with a hint of real fruit juice is currently rolling out globally in China, Colombia, Peru, Panama, Ecuador and the UK, with additional markets launching later this year, starting with Canada.

According to the company, Corona Tropical is a refreshing alcoholic beverage with no added sugar and less than 100 calories per can, available in several tropical flavours.

Corona Tropical is 4.5% ABV and available in three flavours in the UK including Guava & Lime, Raspberry & Lemon, and Grapefruit & Lemongrass.

“Corona is a brand that was born from the tropics and as we encourage consumers to embrace the lifestyle around the world, we’re excited to offer a new Corona beverage to those who love the brand but are looking for options outside of beer,” said Corona vice president Felipe Ambra said.

“It is our mission to bring paradise to people everywhere and our newest innovation does just that. We created a more flavourful and very approachable alcoholic beverage so that everyone can enjoy the feeling of paradise done the Corona way.”

“The launch of Corona Tropical is a big milestone for us as we constantly strive to bring exciting new products to consumers that cater to their evolving needs,” InBev global brands marketing director Jessica McGeorge told Grocery Gazette.

“With Corona Tropical we wanted to create something that specifically reinforces the natural, refreshing cues of the Corona brand but are looking for an alternative beyond beer. Corona Tropical brings a truly super-premium option to the alcoholic sparkling water market; we’re proud to bring this new and refreshing take on the category to life made with real fruit juice.”

The new launch also consists of a marketing campaign which Corona will install pickable, real fruit billboards in select cities, starting in London and expanding around the world in May.
