Meadow Foods strengthens team with new appointments

Dairy brand Meadow Foods has announced a trio of new appointments, including one internal promotion amongst the team.

Andy Smith joins as the commercial director for the speciality ingredients division, Lorraine Hammond joins the business as HR director and Alun Lewis’s promotion sees him become the company’s first head of sustainability.

Smith joins the company with over 20 years of global experience in the food industry, working with Quorn Foods, Mondelez and Roberts Bakery.

He will assume responsibility for the sales, NPD and marketing departments, focusing on customer innovation and identifying new markets for business growth.

Hammond brings over two decades of experience in providing HR support to global SMEs and private partnership organisations.

She is expected to play a key role in Meadow Foods recruiting and retaining schemes.

Alun Lewis has been promoted to head of sustainability to support the businesses sustainability plans, reporting directly to the executive team.

Lewis has been with the company for 15 years, formerly holding positions with Tomlinson Dairies, culminating in a total of over 30 years in the dairy industry.

“We’re pleased to grow the team with these strategic hires and welcome the experience they bring to key areas of our business,” Meadow Foods chief executive Mark Chantler said.

“Alun has been with us for many years and now plays a key role in helping us to deliver on our sustainability targets.

“We have a strong management team in place and are excited by the opportunities for further sustainable growth.”

The news comes after Meadow Foods has announced the appointment of Raj Tugnait as its new chief executive, with effect from May.

He succeeds the company’s current boss Mark Chantler – the son of Meadow Foods co-founder Simon Chanter – who will remain a part of the leadership team with a seat on the board as a non-executive director and a significant shareholder.
