Midcounties Co-op names former Tesco manager as its head of property

The Midcounties Co-operative has appointed former Tesco manager, Katheryn Lyddon as its head of property.

Lyddon joins from the Big 4 grocer, where she held several senior management roles across Europe, Asia and the UK in her 17-year span.

In her new position, Lyddon will take responsibility for leading the grocer’s property, acquisition and development function as it continues to implement its growth and investment plans for 2022.

Additionally, she will continue to ensure that Co-op’s property portfolio is in line with its sustainability strategy, in a bid to tackle climate change and have a positive environmental impact.

“As a society we’ve committed to significant capital investment over the next five years – especially in our Food and Childcare businesses,” Midcountines Co-operative chief executive Phil Ponsonby said.

“Kathryn’s appointment as Head of Property, will not only help us to deliver against our growth and sustainability strategies but also help us generate even greater benefit for our members and the communities in which we operate.”

Commenting on her appointment Lyddon added: “I’m really excited to be joining an organisation with ethical values at its core and which puts its members and local communities at the heart of everything they do.”
