Asda has revealed it has increased security measures in stores, as the hunt for Cadbury’s valuable half and half eggs gets underway.

The Big 4 grocer introduced a security guard in its Pudsey store to help prevent shoppers from getting a sneak peak following the commencement of the egg hunt.

One lucky Asda customer has the opportunity to find the rare half milk and half white chocolate eggs worth £10,000, which could be hidden in any Asda store.

“This is such an exciting competition and it’s great to see our shoppers so excited about the prospect of finding a rare half-and-half egg! It’s all in good fun, but we’re staying egg-stra vigilant around the Créme Egg displays to ensure everyone gets a fair crack at winning,” an Asda spokesperson said.

The news comes as Asda has backed out of a commitment it made in October to exclusively stock British beef.

In October 2021, the Big 4 grocer announced that it would be supplying 100% British beef in all its fresh meat counters, following a commitment it made earlier this year.
