Branston Beans has launched three new high protein, vegan and vegetarian meals to add to its growing portfolio.
The new products will be available from Big 4 grocer Sainsbury’s and will retail for £1.
The new products include two plant-based products, chickpea dhal and Mexican style beans and one vegetarian product, Italian style beans respectively..
The move comes as 2021 saw a 40% increase in the number of people engaged in a vegetarian or plant-based lifestyle in the UK, the company revealed.
As a result, Branston’s new products followed the dietary trends with each product being: high protein, one of your five-a-day, gluten-free, low in fat and sugar and free from artificial flavours, colours and preservatives.
“Branston Beans are already a staple within the kitchen cupboard and we’re thrilled to introduce these new products that we know our customers will love,” Branston Beans commercial director Dean Towey said.
“We’re certain the trio of new products will become firm favourites with consumers.”
The news comes after The Vegan Society announced one in five Brits are expected to incorporate vegan dishes and desserts into their Christmas dinner this year.
In a recent survey, 16% revealed they will be incorporating some vegan options, 3% were in favour of a fully vegetarian menu with lots of plant-based options and 1% are expected to eat a fully vegan Christmas dinner.
