Aldi has been named the nation’s favourite supermarket, according to new research by YouGov.
The German discounter was ranked ahead of M&S, Tesco and Sainsbury’s in the study.
It comes as Aldi is set to create 1500 seasonal Christmas jobs across the country as it opens a new store every week on average.

“British shoppers know that Aldi is the only supermarket to offer an unbeatable combination of high-quality products at low prices,” Aldi communications director Richard Thornton said.
“This is something that’s becoming increasingly important for households faced with rising fuel and energy costs
“We’re currently gearing up for our biggest and best ever Christmas and look forward to helping our customers enjoy the seasonal celebrations they deserve this year, at prices they can afford.”
The news comes as Aldi announced price cuts on selected products in a bid to reduce food waste.
It revealed 920 of its stores are marking down goods, such as rice, pasta, cereal and tinned food, by 30 per cent if the packaging is imperfect.
The time that items are reduced will vary by store, and all products will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis, Aldi revealed.
