Morrisons has started work on its new Kirby store, which is set to open later this year.
The new 47,000 sq ft site is set to feature groceries, home delivery services and the supermarket’s Market Street counters.
Hiring is already underway for staff, with several job vacancies listed on the Morrisons site and interviews due to begin over the summer.
The site was visited by Councillors Tony Brennan and Louise Harbour on July 9 for a viewing as construction began.

“We know the residents of Kirby are eagerly anticipating the opening of this store and we’re pleased to be on site,” Morrisons senior development manager James Smith said.
“It is just an empty shell at the moment so there is a lot to do but work is underway and we plan to open our doors this autumn.
“We look forward to meeting and serving the community later this year.”
Councillor Harbour added: “The new Morrisons will create job opportunities for local people as well as a boost to our economy.
“We have made great progress in such a short space of time and I’m really excited for the store to open its doors.”
