Morrisons extends 10% NHS discount

Morrisons has announced that it will extend its existing 10 per cent discount scheme for NHS workers until the end of 2021.

The scheme was first introduced in April 2020 at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, providing NHS staff with a discount on in-store and online shopping orders.

The grocer has also introduced an NHS Club that will let the frontline workers claim their discount using their Morrisons More Card app.

This means NHS staff will no longer need to show their badges to take advantage of the offer.

“This has been an incredibly difficult year for everyone in the NHS and we have done our best to be there for them from the start,” Morrisons chief executive David Potts said.

“As we all look forward to better times ahead, this is our way of showing our sincere gratitude and appreciation for the work everyone in the NHS has done – and continues to do – through the pandemic.”

Additionally, Morrisons has offered a free year-long delivery pass for online shopping to all healthcare workers.

The news comes as Morrisons launched NHS hour in its branches, allowing NHS workers to exclusively shop from 6am to 7am.

The NHS hour also lets the workers enter the store at 9am on Sundays, whilst regular shoppers will only be allowed in half an hour later.
