Waitrose to launch first in-store Gail’s bakery
Waitrose is set to launch its first in-store Gail’s Bakery in a move aimed at “strengthening the partnership” between the two companies.
Shoppers at Waitrose’s Canary Wharf branch in London will soon be able to order fresh goods and drinks at Gail’s café, as well as use its click-and-collect services.
The 280 sq ft café will also offer home and office delivery for its sharing ranges.
Due to open on 6 June, the new tie-up builds on the two companies’ existing partnership and past collaborations.

The upmarket grocer first launched dedicated Gail’s bakery areas in 64 of its locations last year, leading to the sales of Gail’s baked goods in Waitrose rising 35% annually. It is understood that the Canary Wharf location alone makes up almost 5% of total Gail’s sales at the supermarket giant.

Waitrose customer director Nathan Ansell said: “Building on our successful partnership with the launch of a new and innovative Gail’s bakery is hugely exciting. Synonymous with quality, expertise, and taste, Gail’s very much reflects our own core values and we know how much our food loving customers enjoy their products.”
Gail’s managing director Marta Pogroszewska added: “We are delighted to be opening one of our neighbourhood bakeries within the Canary Wharf store.
“We look forward to further strengthening our partnership with Waitrose and welcoming the community to our latest craft bakery.”
The new in-store bakery follows a move by Gail’s last year to launch its first digital loyalty programme, offering customers personalised rewards.
