Kellogg’s is offering all UK employees Friday afternoons off work in a bid to encourage flexible working across the company.
The fmcg food giant – which employs more than 450 staff across the UK – is encouraging staff to take a break from their screens and embrace the benefits of flexible working patterns.
Kellogg’s ‘summer hours scheme’ offers office-based employees the opportunity to finish work from 12pm on a Friday, provided they have completed a full week’s hours.
Sales teams based in the field can choose to take their afternoon off or on a weekday of their choice.

The scheme first launched 19 years ago and runs from May to September. It is part of a wider package from Kellogg’s aimed at supporting employees’ mental and physical wellbeing.
Staff are offered in-house training to be able to support colleagues who may be struggling.
“We have a long history of offering flexible working and summer hours is a great way to encourage our people to take time away from their desks,” said Kellogg’s UK vp and head of the UK business Chris Silcock
HR director Sue Platt added: “Flexible working is something we take very seriously at Kellogg’s. Research shows people who feel they have a good work-life balance work 21% harder than those who don’t.”
The UK branch of the company also has meeting-free Friday afternoons which it says has encouraged a “culture of flexibility”.
