The Co-op has opened a new regional distribution depot, which will serve 600 of its stores when it becomes fully operational later this year.
The £45 million depot, situated in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire, is set to be the Co-op’s largest regional distribution centre and has already started delivering frozen and fresh food and groceries.
As a result, the symbol group retailer expects to use 100% renewable energy to power the site, which is set to include solar PV designed into the roof.
