Amazon Fresh has opened its first cashier-less grocery store in the UK, where shoppers can pick up their goods and leave without visiting a cashier or till for payment.
The store in Ealing, London, is a “contactless” shop available to anyone with an Amazon account and app.
The products’ payments are made via the app as sensors on the shelves detect when an item has been picked.

The store is equipped with cameras to monitor people’s movement around the store and the products they pick up.
While customers don’t need to interact with staff, the store will employ about 30 staff to restock shelves and handle queries.
The store will stock about 10,000 grocery products, including brands like Heinz and Kelloggs, and items from Morrisons, Booths, and Mindful Chef.
Amazon has also launched its first own grocery brand at the store – By Amazon – which includes frequently bought items such as milk, bread, pizzas, and cakes.
