Plant-based coffee brand Rodd’s reaches £3m sales milestone
Iced coffee brand Rodd’s has announced a milestone of surpassing £3m in retail sales over the first year and expanded its range at Sainsbury’s this month.
The brand has a new Brown Sugar Latte, which launched on 10 May at over 360 Sainsbury’s local stores to mark its first anniversary.
Rodd’s has increased its distribution from an initial 300 Sainsbury’s stores to full supermarket coverage within six months and become part of the retailer’s meal deal as well as convenience and forecourt channels.
The coffee brand was founded by two well-known digital creators, and growth has been driven by increasing demand for plant-based recipes and low-sugar options, according to the business.
Co-founder Will Lenney said: “Through our content background, James and I learned pretty quickly that attention doesn’t automatically turn into loyalty.

“Getting people to try it is the easy bit, but getting them to come back is what actually matters – seeing repeat customers is serious validation for us because that’s what it all comes down to here.
“What’s been interesting over the past year is that when the product delivers, it doesn’t just convert; it actually pulls new people into the category altogether. We set out to make a café-style iced coffee that genuinely tastes good. Simple as that. So, seeing that land in retail over the last 12 months has been a huge moment for us.”
The brand had standout performances from its flavours, which are first-to-market variants such as Waffle, Maple Sea Salt and Brown Sugar, which have led to a 151 per cent surge year on year, according to the business.
Moving forward, the business plans to scale the product availability according to the increasing demand and build on the growing popularity of oat-based iced coffee.
