Co-op had opened four new stores in Scotland as part of its expansion before the year ends.

The convenience retailer opened a new store in Selkirk, with the Co-op moving to a larger location in the high street area.

Additionally, the business opened the doors to a renovated store in Brora, Scotland, after multiple upgrades to the location.

The Co-op store in Gower Street was renovated to include a served-over counter from Inverness-based bakery Harry Gow, a Costa Coffee Express station, and a wide range of fresh and healthy products.

Niki Hill, Co-op’s Selkirk store manager, said: “Our brand-new store looks fantastic, and we have had a great response from our customers.

“We enjoyed welcoming the community into their new co-op. We’re proud to be part of the local community, and we’re here to contribute to local life and conveniently serve and support the community.”

Co-op also reopened two stores in Callander and High Street, Fortrose, following renovations and upgrades to the two locations.

As part of the renovations, all the stores have Co-op’s eco-friendly refrigerators, which also enhance the fresh and frozen ranges.

The stores also have soft-plastic recycling which simplifies the process of recycling materials including crisp packets and bread bags.

This is part of Co-op’s commitment to opening the doors to 200 new and refurbished stores over the 2024/25 period.

Additionally, the convenience retailer has committed to investing £1bn in the UK economy over the next 12 months following the Autumn Budget, slashing prices on over 1,000 products.
