Tesco website outage resolved as shoppers regain access
Tesco’s website and app experienced a technical outage this morning, preventing customers across the UK from completing online grocery orders.
The disruption started shortly after 8am, with users reporting that product pages would not load and attempts to check out triggered error messages.
According to outage tracker DownDetector, over 1,200 issues were logged by 8.30am. Shoppers also took to social media to voice their frustration.
One user said: “Desperately need to add shopping to my nan’s order and the app and web is down. She’ll blame me if it’s not added. Help!” Another tweeted: “@Tesco app not working and online grocery site not working. Can’t spend my money!”

Some customers managed to regain limited access by refreshing the page, though problems persisted for many.
Tesco confirmed the issue has now been resolved. A spokesperson told Grocery Gazette: “We’ve fixed a technical issue that very briefly affected our app and website earlier this morning. We apologise for the inconvenience.”
The outage comes as the business continues to expand its digital operations. In the latest quarter ending 24 May, the group reported like-for-like sales growth of 4.6%.
The retailer has faced similar issues in the past, including a technical glitch in April 2025 that affected hundreds of online shoppers.
