Wrap, the pressure group which works with businesses to reduce their environmental impact, has appointed Catherine David as its new chief executive, following the resignation of previous boss Harriet Lamb in March.

David will now lead the global environmental action NGO, following her previous position as director of behaviour change and business programmes at the group. She will take on the new role from 1 June, and assume responsibility for Wrap’s 2030 strategy.

Former chief executive Lamb  left the anti-waste charity to become the CEO of the UK’s green party.

David joined Wrap in 2021, after holding senior roles at The Fairtrade Foundation and Co-op. Her current role sees her direct Wrap’s business collaboration through voluntary agreements, including The Plastics Pact, The Food and Drink Pact and The Textiles Pact, as well as the organisation’s citizen behaviour change programmes, Recycle Now and Love Food Hate Waste.

“I am absolutely delighted to be taking on the role of CEO of Wrap,” said David.

“At Wrap, we are on a mission to embed circular living in every board room and every home, and it is a huge privilege to take on the job of leading the wonderful team as CEO.

“I look forward to working with Wrap’s partners and stakeholders across the world to take action, at a crucial time for our planet and for all of us who call it home.”

Wrap chair of trustees Sebastian Munden added: ““Catherine has the skills, determination, and expertise to lead Wrap at this important time, boosted by her experience of the last three and a half years of change.

“She will continue to drive our mission, which she helped co-create, to embed circular living in every boardroom and every home.

“Catherine has demonstrated her commitment to delivering against an ambitious strategy focused on system change in food & drink, materials like textiles and packaging, and the circular economy, while expanding our global reach and impact.”
