Aldi has announced plans to help students access fresh fruit and vegetables this Freshers Week by giving away £5,000 in shopping vouchers.

The discounter launched the giveaway to assist new and returning students to stock up on affordable fresh fruit and vegetables as they adjust to university life.

As part of the offer, 500 students will each win a £10 Aldi voucher to cover the costs of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Julie Ashfield, chief commercial officer at Aldi UK, said: “Freshers Week is an exciting time, but whether students are leaving home for the first time or heading back after summer, building healthy routines on a budget can be a challenge.

“At Aldi, we want to help students feel confident making affordable, balanced choices, which is why we’re giving away £5,000 in vouchers to help them stock up on fresh fruit and vegetables as term begins.”

The vouchers were designed to offer students assistance when it comes to building healthy and balanced meals within a strict budget.

To enter the competition students can email freshers@aldi.co.uk with their name and age and a UK university email address, and the competition will run until midnight on 7 October 2026.

This reinforces the discounter’s commitment to promoting healthy eating, previously investing £2m into the Get Set to Eat Fresh programme earlier this year.

Over the summer Aldi also gave away £100 shopping vouchers to new parents to help support families amid high living costs.
