Waitrose has permanently extended its quick-commerce delivery hours to 35 stores across the UK, as it seeks to improve convenience for customers.

This comes after the supermarket retailer expanded the delivery window in over 50 shops last month to meet consumer demand during late-night and early morning matches.

A number of retailers extended their delivery windows to meet rising shopper demand over the FIFA World Cup tournament.

According to the business, shoppers continued to order at those locations after the matches had ended, and now the supermarket is making the extra hours permanent.

The chosen stores will fulfil orders until midnight, with selected high-demand locations delivering throughout the day and night, 24/7.

Shoppers will now be able to order a range of Waitrose groceries, from fresh ingredients and ready meals to late-night snacks, directly to their doorstep in as little as 20 minutes through platforms such as Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat.

Laura Burbedge, director of online at Waitrose said: “The World Cup proved that our food-loving customers value the flexibility of shopping at Waitrose whenever they need us.

“By extending our delivery windows, we’re making it even more convenient to access the delicious, high-quality food our customers love.”

The stores will not be extending their trading hours, and alcoholic drinks will not be available for delivery beyond the shop timings.
