Tesco adds Deliveroo and Uber to q-commerce offering
As well as its own Tesco Whoosh service, shoppers at the UK’s largest supermarket will soon be able to order via Deliveroo and Uber Eats.
Responding to the growing demand for rapid delivery of groceries, Tesco will initially launch on Uber Eats this August before expanding to the Deliveroo platform later in the summer.
Customers will also benefit from Clubcard points and prices when shopping through the apps, as Tesco works to ensure the benefits of its loyalty programme reaches all on-demand customers.
“Whoosh has transformed the way millions of customers shop with Tesco, offering speed, convenience and great value through the power of Clubcard. Launching with Uber Eats and Deliveroo will enable us to bring those benefits to even more customers,” Ashwin Prasad, Tesco UK CEO, told The Grocer.

“Our online business continues to go from strength to strength, and these partnerships represent another important step in expanding our reach. By combining Tesco’s market-leading range, quality and value with the scale of Uber Eats and Deliveroo, we’re making it even easier for more customers to shop with Tesco in the way that suits them best.”
Tesco had previously become the first partner of Deliveroo’s new white label solution, which looks to offer grocers and retailers an on-demand delivery service that operates through their own online channels.
In April last year, Tesco chief executive Ken Murphy labelled the grocer’s rapid delivery venture Whoosh a “real success story”, as basket sizes and sales soared.
Whoosh was first launched in 2021, and offers shoppers grocery deliveries in as little as 30 minutes. The quick commerce offering has expanded to over 1,500 stores, including into 42 large stores. Tesco said this helped to expand both the depth of its range and its reach, with active customers up 48 per cent.
