Morrisons appoints Maz Ahmed as MD of convenience & wholesale
Morrisons has appointed Maz Ahmed as the managing director of convenience and wholesale effective immediately, reporting directly to CEO Rami Baitiéh.
Ahmed will be responsible for leading the growth of the retailer’s convenience business, which is an important part of Morrisons’ growth plans.
The supermarket has plans to expand its number of franchise stores in the upcoming years.
Additionally, he will focus on improving the performance of the company owned Morrisons Daily estate.
Baitiéh said: “Maz has demonstrated strong leadership skills in his previous roles and is already bringing new focus and drive to the management of our convenience operations. I look forward to his further contribution to the development of this important business.”

Ahmed brings years of retail experience to the position, serving over 18 years with Morrisons since joining the supermarket in 2008.
He previously served as group commercial finance director, where he managed the supermarket’s commercial operations.
Additionally, he worked for three years as operations director at Myton, the Group’s food manufacturing business, where he managed the produce and horticulture department.
This executive appointment comes after the supermarket’s director of data and analytics Peter Laflin left the business after almost seven years.
Additionally, earlier this year in April, Morrisons reduced its convenience buying team as part of a wider cost-saving drive.
