M&S to open ‘largest-ever’ standalone foodhall this summer

News

Marks & Spencer is set to open its largest-ever standalone foodhall in Godalming this summer.

The new store, which will be located on the site of the former Homebase near Godalming town centre, will span 22,000 sq ft, making it the biggest M&S Foodhall to date.

Recruitment is already underway, with the retailer set to create up to 80 new jobs across a range of retail roles.

The Godalming opening will mark M&S’ second new foodhall in Surrey this year, following the recent launch of its Farnham store, which includes hot chicken and Mai Sushi counters.

Customers at the new Godalming foodhall can expect M&S’ latest fresh market-style layout, including produce from its Select Farm Partners, a dedicated flower shop and plant range, and an in-store bakery.

The retailer’s job advertisements also suggest the store will feature hot food counters, offering shoppers freshly prepared food on the go.

M&S has also hinted that the new foodhall will stock a distinct product range not currently available in Godalming.

The site will include 175 car parking spaces, including parent and child and accessible bays. M&S said the store will also be accessible by foot, bicycle and public transport.

M&S regional manager Carl Flannagan said: “We are excited to create two brand-new fresh market-style M&S Food stores at Farnham and Godalming, bringing even more M&S Food to customers across Surrey.

“Customers can look forward to trusted value from our Remarksable Value and Bigger Pack Better Value ranges, fresh produce from our Select Farm partners – 200 of which are based in the South East – and the latest new product innovations.”
