M&S has opened a renovated Martlesham Heath store after a two-month transformation as it pushes towards doubling the size of its grocery business.

The 13,000 sq ft store has stocked a selection of M&S Food items for customers with an expanded range of products and new features.

The supermarket has a new in-store bakery and coffee counter, which offers barista-made takeaway drinks alongside a range of pastries and bread.

There is also a new cheese barge at the centre of the store and a larger fresh produce offer from the M&S Select farm partners.

M&S store manager Jonathan Black said: “It feels amazing to be back serving our customers. The atmosphere has been electric this morning, and I’m so grateful to everyone who queued to be one of the first inside.

“A massive thanks also to the team for all their hard work – this investment in Martlesham means we can now deliver the best of M&S Food for our customers, just in time for the bank holiday and the start of summer.”

Shoppers will be able to purchase from the M&S Remarksable Value range and the family-sized Bigger Pack Better Value range.

This comes after the supermarket retailer recently opened a new food store in Oxfordshire as it grows its grocery business.

Last month M&S also opened three new stores located in Luton, Farnham and Westway, Chelmsford.
