Asda slashes prices on 249 more products in fresh food push

Asda’s executive chair Allan Leighton has personally emailed the supermarket’s head office workforce, calling for employees to better “flatten the week” by attending the office on Mondays and Fridays, days that are currently being overlooked under the current hybrid-working policy.

Asda has rolled out a second wave of price cuts this week, reducing prices across 249 additional grocery lines, including 197 fresh food products, as part of its latest value drive.

Customers at the supermarket chain will see average reductions of 7%, with some discounts reaching as high as 50%, as the supermarket doubles down on its midweek commitment to keep prices low for families.

Among the biggest reductions are Extra Special Frozen Raw & Hand-Peeled Jumbo King Prawns 200g, cut from £4.24 to £2.12, and COOK by Asda Butternut Squash Chunks 700g, down from £2.10 to £1.38.

The move follows Asda’s recent price commitment announcement, with it last week announcing a major round of price reductions today (7 October), cutting the cost of 956 everyday grocery products both in-store and online.
