DoorDash completes Deliveroo acquisition and names new CEO
Deliveroo has appointed Miki Kuusi as the new chief executive following the completion of its acquisition by DoorDash yesterday.
Kuusi previously served as head of international for DoorDash and founded the tech company Wolt, which he will continue to manage alongside his new role.
The news comes after Deliveroo’s CEO and founder, Will Shu, stepped down from the role after serving for 13 years last month.
Tony Xu, CEO and co-founder of DoorDash, commented in a statement: “This is the beginning of a new chapter, not the end of an old one. Deliveroo’s DNA—its customer obsession and relentless pursuit to improve the experience of consumers, merchants, and riders—remains the same. By combining that with DoorDash’s global scale and technology, we have the opportunity to serve more people, in more places, with greater impact.

“I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity to come together with Deliveroo to serve its stakeholders – you. You have my commitment that we will work tirelessly to help power a future where local wins – everywhere.”
The completion of the £2.9bn takeover deal marks the merger of two global delivery giants, which was officially announced in May.
Kuusi added on a LinkedIn post: “For me personally, this is also the start of a new chapter, as I’ll take on the role as CEO of Deliveroo and relocate to London.
“I want to thank William Shu for his incredible journey with Deliveroo and everything he’s done for our industry as a true pioneer. I’m also deeply grateful to Tony Xu for all of his trust and support as we take this next step forward as a global company.”
