M&S resumes its Sparks membership rewards programme and launches discounts
M&S has announced that its Sparks membership rewards programme is back in full operation after the cyberattack and is offering its members free birthday gifts and other benefits.
The high street retailer is also launching a “thank you” discount for its 63,000 M&S members of staff, as well as 2,500 external contractors.
The employees will be able to use a 20% to 30% discount across its categories, including fashion, home, and beauty products. External contractors are set to receive a 10% discount across stores.
Shoppers will be able to receive 1.8 million birthday treats, including Percy Pigs, Swiss truffles, prosecco, and chocolate biscuits, to thank customers for their support amid temporary disruptions from the cyberattacks.

Sharry Cramond, Director of Loyalty, Fashion, Home & Beauty Marketing and Masterbrand, said: “Over the last three months, our colleagues have demonstrated real commitment and teamwork. At the same time, our customers have shown us fantastic support and loyalty. These extra Sparks rewards are a small gesture to say thank you.”
Additionally, its coffee rewards scheme has been resumed, with customers receiving a complimentary coffee after six purchases.
Last week, four people were arrested in relation to the cyberattack that happened in April, which caused disruptions to M&S’ online systems.
The retail giant is expected to take a financial hit of an estimated £300 million following the cyberattack.
M&S expects its systems to fully recover by August and has resumed some of its online operations, including its online orders.
