Aldi has launched a virtual work experience programme designed to support young people who are considering a career in retail.

The free online course is open to all UK students aged 13 and over, and is structured to build skills while introducing students to the wide range of roles available in retail, from warehouse to store to head office.

Developed with virtual work experience provider Springpod, the scheme provides participants with a certificate once they have completed the programme, to enhance their CVs.

“At Aldi, we understand that not everyone has access to in-person work experience. That’s why we’ve created a flexible virtual programme that allows participants to learn at their own pace, fitting around their schedules,” said Aldi UK training and development director Lisa Murphy.

“This initiative not only provides young people with real insight into what it’s like to work at Aldi but also makes it possible for them to experience this, no matter where they are in the UK.”

More than 2,000 young people have already signed up for the scheme, said Murphy. The discounter added it plans to recruit more than 500 new apprentices across the country during 2025.
