Iceland Foods promotes retail director to COO
Iceland Foods has promoted group retail director Kristian Barrett to chief operating officer, marking the latest shake-up in the frozen food retailer’s senior team.
It is understood that Barrett’s new responsibilities will be to lead the distribution, digital and retail operations, and supply chain for both Iceland and The Food Warehouse, The Grocer reported.
Barrett has spent over seven years with the supermarket, having previously held roles including group retail director and stores director for The Food Warehouse.

Prior to joining Iceland, Barrett held a variety of roles at Asda, with his most recent position being senior director of operations, which he held until 2017.
Barrett shared the news of his promotion via LinkedIn this week, with executive chairman Richard Walker congratulating him on the move.
Walker commented: “Boom! There you go. We cannot wait to see you get stuck into this. Congrats – and massively deserved.”
It follows previous movement in the supermarket’s leadership team last year, when Asda poached Iceland group chief customer, marketing and digital officer David Devany as its new vice president for ecommerce and Iceland executive Andrew Staniland joined Morrisons as group trading director.
