Plant-based chocolatier H!P has launched a limited-edition vegan ‘Figs in Blankets’ chocolate bar for Christmas.

The product, which combines sweet figs with a salty vegan bacon seasoning, beneath oat milk chocolate, is available to buy exclusively on Amazon for £3.50 with a portion of the proceeds supporting The King’s Trust’s mission to empower young people.

It was inspired by illustrator Louise Coutinho, 27, who submitted her idea in a search for the UK’s next chocolatier as part of a creative initiative with The King’s Trust and Amazon.

Trust-supported young people were invited to invent unique flavour combinations for the festive season, where entries were judged by experts, including product inventor and celebrity chef Levi Roots, and H!P founder James Cadbury.

Cadbury said: “At H!P, our mission is to prove that eating plant-based chocolate doesn’t mean compromising on great taste, so we jumped at the chance to bring an imaginative new flavour to life with Amazon.”

It comes as a new study from discounter Aldi found that Gen Z and Millennials are shunning traditional Christmas food in favour of plant-based meals and global foods.
