Majestic predicts sale of one bottle of champagne every 5 seconds in December
Majestic is forecasting a surge in sales this Christmas with a bottle of champagne set to sell every five seconds throughout December.
The specialist wine retailer expects excusive to Majestic brands, such as Boizel, Bouvet and Cattier, to rise in popularity during the next fortnight as on average, around 40% of the annual champagne sales are made during November and December.
Alongside champagne, the retailer is predicting that rosé, English wines, orange wines and drinks from regions including Greece will prove the biggest hits with customers over the festive season.
This year, Majestic is gearing up for its biggest-ever Christmas in rosé wine sales as it enjoyed its most successful December for the wine variety in 2023 and said sales are on track to rise 25% this year.

Meanwhile, the retailer predicts that sales of English wines will grow 33% during December compared to last year, while sales of Greek wines are set to double compared to the same period the year before.
Majestic’s orange wine sales are also on track to double this month as customers opt for alternative options.
All of the retailer’s 212 stores across England, Scotland, Wales and Jersey will be hosting free wine tastings seven days a week in the run up to Christmas, with colleagues on hand to provide expert, personalised advice.
Majestic chief commercial officer Elizabeth Newman said: “Champagne always flies off the shelves as shoppers celebrate in style with premium festive fizz, but we also think people will buy into less traditional categories throughout the holiday season.
“Our customers are becoming more and more adventurous with their drink choices, and the Christmas and New Year period is the perfect time of year to wow your friends and family by serving up something a little bit different.
“Wines from off-the-beaten-track regions like Greece and Hungary will be among the stand-out choices for shoppers looking to do just that, and orange wines are emerging as a popular new pairing for the Christmas turkey.”
