Asda has become the first UK supermarket to launch an online prescription service as it partners with online pharmacy Pharmacy2U.
The grocery giant says Asda Online Pharmacy is now a platform where patients can both manage their prescriptions line and have them delivered to a home address.
Asda Pharmacy head of pharmacy and superintendent pharmacist Faisal Tuddy said: “We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our online prescription delivery service with Pharmacy2U.
“By launching this platform, we are now able to reach even more Asda customers across the country, some of whom may not have an Asda Pharmacy nearby.

“We know how important it is for families to be able to simply access their repeat prescriptions without having to worry. This expansion ensures greater convenience for our patients, who can now easily access these services online.”
Pharmacy2U CEO Kevin Heath added: “At Pharmacy2U, we’re committed to making healthcare easily accessible for the whole family. We are incredibly proud to have partnered with Asda to now bring our online prescription services to a place of ease for their customers.
“Supermarkets play a huge role in daily life making this a natural, yet exciting next step for patients.”
The new initiative follows a Pharmacy First government scheme that was launched early this year, allowing pharmacists to supply prescription-only medications, including antibiotics and antivirals, without the need to see a GP.
