Iceland re-launches Christmas ‘Turkey Insurance’ initiative

Iceland has relaunched its ‘Turkey Insurance’ initiative to guarantee shoppers the Christmas dinner staple for delivery this festive season.

The frozen food retailer’s customers can now order a turkey for delivery between Saturday 9 and Saturday 16 December.

This comes as new research from Iceland found that 57% of the nation see turkey as essential for their Christmas dinner.

However, more than a third are more concerned about being able to get hold of one this year compared to last year and 67% worry about affording one.

Shoppers that have created an online account via Iceland’s website will receive an email with details on how to secure a Chirstmas turkey.

When received, customers will need to complete an order form by 25 November to guarantee a delivery slot.

Turkey options include Iceland’s 2.2kg turkey crown for £25, as well as a Bernard Matthews medium crown for £23 or Bernard Matthews medium turkey for £21.

Iceland Foods and The Food Warehouse group buying director Andrew Staniland said: “We know our customers are concerned about getting hold of a turkey and the cost of putting a roast on the table this year.

“So, at Iceland, we’re doing everything we can with our largest range of turkeys ever. From our exclusive online turkey roast dinner offer to the return of our popular ‘Turkey Insurance’ initiative – all aiming to help our customers enjoy their perfect festive meal at home with their loved ones.”

Until 24 November, shoppers can save £8.50 on an online exclusive offer with a turkey and three sides for £30.

This comes as Iceland has launched its biggest festive recruitment drive to help fulfil the additional 100,000 delivery slots available to customers this Christmas.
