The frozen food retailer added that previous seasonal employees have secured permanent roles following the Christmas period.

Iceland Foods HR director, Helen Tindle said: “I’m excited to share our commitment to recruiting ever more people from within the communities that we serve.

“We’re building opportunities for people and offering a chance for talented, energetic individuals to become part of our Iceland family and make a meaningful impact for our customers at one of the fastest-growing retailers in the UK.

“We support our colleagues as much as our customers, offering training, benefits and growth opportunities. At Iceland, we’re not just opening doors to our customers, we’re opening doors to a brighter future for our team members.”

This comes as M&S is recruiting 10,000 new customer assistants for the busy Christmas period, while Tesco is looking for 30,000 temporary colleagues across the UK, and Sainsbury’s is creating 22,000 additional seasonal roles nationwide.

Morrisons is also looking to recruit an additional 3,500 workers over the Christmas period and Aldi is looking to recruit 3,000 new store workers for both temporary and permanent positions.
