Tesco has expanded its premium lunchtime meal deal offering with a trial of handmade baguettes in 170 stores.
From today (24 October), baguette fillings will include mozzarella, tomato and basil pesto; chicken and Beechwood bacon caesar; tuna, mayo and cucumber; Wiltshire ham, cheddar and Dijon mustard; and free range egg mayonnaise and rocket.
The premium meal deal, which is available alongside the grocer’s standard meal deal, will now allow shoppers with a Clubcard to purchase a baguette, drink and side for £5 or £5.50 without the card.

Tesco brand manager Violaine Barthe, said: “We know our customers like the occasional lunchtime treat and our new range of baguettes with five delicious fillings give them the perfect excuse to do so.
“With a main, snack and drink in out premium meal deal costing just £5 for Clubcard members, treating yourself at lunchtime doesn’t have to break the bank.”
Tesco first launched its premium offer in February which includes products from brands such as itsu, Yo! Sushi, Pollen and Grace, and items from the Tesco Finest range.
Tesco CEO Ken Murphy told Grocery Gazette that food-to-go is a “real growth area” for the supermarket giant, adding that it has launched over 155 new products in that category over the last six months.
