Leon is launching a duo of new microwavable rice pouches in all Sainsbury’s stores nationwide this month.
It marks the first time the healthier fast-food chain is expanding its grocery range by entering into the microwave rice category.
Leon’s Spicy Microwave Rice and Herbed Microwave Rice (240g, £1.80) will be available in ready-to-heat pouches and will launch at the big 4 grocer on 29 October.
Both pouches are suitable for vegans, and each pouch contains two servings – in line with the wider Leon grocery range, containing no artificial ingredients.
Additionally, they take inspiration from its popular rice boxes that launched in its restaurants in 2004.

Following the launch of the GFC Nuggets back in September, the latest offering brings the Leon Grocery range to 24 products across ambient and frozen categories.
Managing director of LEON Grocery, Ashley Davis said: “Fibre-full wholegrain rice and grains have been at the heart of the LEON restaurant menu since 2004, in our year-round bestselling Rice Boxes.
“This launch into microwaveable rice takes a signature LEON dish and flavours and makes them even more accessible, allowing even more people to eat well, live well and be kind to the planet.”
Last year, Asda rolled out Leon’s grocery range, following on from its expansion at online-only supermarket Ocado.
