Poundland is to recruit 120 warehouse workers for its distribution centre in South Yorkshire, as it looks to expand its ecommerce operations.
The discount retailer plans to combine its Poundshop.com and Poundland.co.uk websites once its chilled and frozen food facility in Barnsley has been established as its second digital distribution centre, The Grocer reported.
This will, as a result, allow customers to shop a wider range of Poundland products online for home delivery.

This comes as orders have more than doubled since Poundland opened its first online distribution centre in Wednesbury, West Midlands.
Now it looks to increase the number of workers at its Darton site to nearly 200 by the end of the year after revealing plans to open at least 50 new stores in the next nine months creating between 750 to 800 new retail roles. A variety of roles are available, including shift manager, team leader and warehouse operator roles.
Poundland director of digital, Tom Hill, told The Grocer: “We’re extremely proud to bring good jobs news to Barnsley and South Yorkshire.
“We now look forward to building a team at Darton that can help us also expand our digital business as we offer our customers more ways to shop at Poundland.”
This comes as the discount retailer unveiled plans earlier this month to accelerate its grocery rollout in its UK stores, which includes chilled, frozen, fresh fruit and veg as well as beers, wines and spirits.
Frozen and chilled food will now be going into 24 more stores, bringing the total number of stores offering the ranges to over 570.
