Bettys & Taylors of Harrogate, owner of Yorkshire Tea and Taylors of Harrogate coffee, has announced a habitat restoration and protection scheme with Woodland Trust.

The project aims to regenerate and restore vital environmental ecosystems, transforming the treeless landscape with a mixture of native broad-leafed trees, as well as supporting the local population of red squirrels and woodland birds. It will also restore upland peat bog to help mitigate against flooding.

Taylors sustainable development specialist Alice Tollan said the Trees for Life campaign has supported the planting of over seven million trees since it was first launched in 1990, with trees being planted in both the UK and in tea and coffee growing regions around the world.

“We’re proud to have worked with the Woodland Trust for many years on tree planting initiatives across the UK and we’re pleased to partner together on this latest unique project,” said Tollan.#

Alongside planting trees, in 2019 the Yorkshire Tea owners announced its tea and coffee range achieved a CarbonNeutral certification for the projects aimed to reduce emissions and establish carbon offsetting projects that directly benefit people and communities within their supply chain.
