Waitrose launches Coronation inspired afternoon tea collection

Waitrose is set to launch an exclusive new collection to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III.

As part of the offering, the upmarket retailer is launching an afternoon tea selection, which features a new Jewel the Jack Russell Cake.

The chocolate cake which features chocolate buttercream will be retailing for £9.50, with Waitrose donating £1 of sales to Battersea Dogs Home.

The afternoon tea will also include All Butter Scones at two for £4, with Coronation Mixed Berry and Bramley Apple Preserve priced at £3.45.

The supermarkets Duchy Organic All Butter Shortbread Biscuits have been embossed for the occasion with a crown and will be available for £10 in a tin bearing the date of the King’s Coronation, 6 May 2023.

Duchy Organic Assam and Kenyan teas will also be sold in a dedicated Coronation caddy at £6 for 50 tea bags.

Across its drinks selection inspired by the event, Waitrose is offering Silent Pool Gin in a Coronation Edition bottle exclusive to the retailer for £45, as well as its Leckford Estate Brut featuring a bespoke necktie for £29.99.

A £15 King’s Coronation Bouquet will also be available with flowers in jewel tones, including British tulips from its Foundation farms in Kenya.

“Whether neighbours unite to toast His Majesty King Charles III and The Queen Consort or people use the extra bank holiday to catch up with loved ones, our limited edition range has everything to create a sense of occasion.

“We’ve experimented with and elevated some great British classics using locally sourced ingredients. From Jewel the Jack Russell Cake through to crown-embossed Duchy Shortbread that makes the perfect gift, our selection will make celebrations tasty, affordable and memorable.”
