Asda launches new picking and returns system across George clothing

Asda Logistics Services has launched a new system across its George clothing brand, set to handle peak season fulfullment and returns together at the same location.

Created in collaboration with AMH Material Handling and robotics company Geek+, the solution includes a four-sided rack layout to increase overall pick and put-away rates.

As a result, returned items can be put back on sale at a faster speed, while the Big 4 grocer will have fewer racks with more storage location to process its 7,200 units.

“I’m delighted to see this project going live supporting the growth of our George.com business,” Asda Logistics Services vice president, Chris Hall said.

“This has been a real collaborative effort across our internal teams, AMH, and Geek+. This is our second AMR installation in the network and I can see the value automation brings to supporting the colleague experience.”

Geek+ VP and managing director international business, Lit Fung added: “I am proud that another Asda site is opening in the UK for fulfillment and returns. Right in time for peak season, our system is uniquely positioned to handle returns.

“We accompany our customers as they grow their businesses, and the replication of success from our first project is proof of the value of our solutions.”
