Iceland has launched a short film inspired by Netflix’s The Crown to showcase its Christmas turkey which has seen a price freeze amid current shortage concerns.
Taking on music reminiscent to the opening of the Netflix series while featuring visuals of its Turkey Crown with re-worked credits, the one-minute video is set to roll out across the frozen food retailers social media channels today (16 November).
Looking to celebrate Iceland’s Christmas promises, the film comes as Iceland has announced that it will be freezing the prices of its own-label turkeys.

This follows price rises at competitors as the UK has been hit with the worst-ever outbreak of avian flu and as a result, Defra has enforced a bird housing order in England as more than a third of all free-range Christmas turkeys have died.
On top of its price freeze, Iceland is also looking to use the film to showcase that each customer applying for its Turkey Insurance by 18 November, will be promised a Christmas delivery slot and guaranteed a turkey.
“We bow down to Netflix’s family orientated drama and pay homage to the fictional dramatisation in our version of The Crown,” Iceland Foods marketing director, Caspar Nelson said.
We do want to point out the differences though. Our version is inspired by the real-life events of a frozen turkey and the political and personal events that shape a delicious Christmas dinner.”
