Asda trials in-store hearing services
Asda is set to be the first UK supermarket to offer an in-store hearing service as it trials the initiative across three of its stores.
Working in partnership with the world’s largest hearing aid retailer Amplifon, the service will include free hearing tests and hearing aid trials alongside a range of bespoke hearing aid options.
The trial will initially be running from 9am to 5pm at the Big 4 grocers opticians in Altrincham (on Thursdays and Fridays), Harrogate (on Wednesdays and Fridays) and Long Eaton (on Tuesdays and Fridays).
“There are 6.7 million people in the UK who could benefit from a hearing aid, so we are delighted to work with an established company such as Amplifon to offer this convenient service in some of our opticians,” Asda healthcare partnerships manager, Maq Din said.
Amplifon UK head of marketing, Anibal Oliviera added: “Partnering with Asda is one more step in our mission to help those who struggle with hearing difficulties to rediscover the emotions of sound.
“We bring our expertise in hearing care, delivered by our hearing care professionals, built on over 70 years of worldwide experience. I believe the collaboration between Asda and Amplifon will bring a better quality of life to many more people, and we are really excited to start this journey.”
This news comes as Asda has announced it will be opening 32 standalone ‘Asda Express’ convenience stores over the coming year as a key element of its strategic vision to become the UK’s second-largest supermarket.
