Morrisons is set to open its second Market Kitchen store this month as it looks to expand its food-to-go offerings.
Launching in Bath’s SouthGate shopping centre, this follows on from the supermarket giant‘s first store in this format located at its Manchester Piccadilly Gardens site.
The new store will offer shoppers freshly prepared and cooked food-to-go meals such as curries, pizza, fresh pasta and vegetarian options, alongside its grocery offerings which includes more than 150 locally sourced products.
As well as these dedicated Market Kitchen stores, this concept is also available within 18 of its supermarkets.
IPLC UK partner, Paul Stainton told The Grocer: “This is also very much about Morrisons getting into the trend for street food. It is potentially a chance for them to create a point of difference and a USP, although as ever it will be about the delivery and whether they get their prices right.”
Alongside its store offerings, Morrisons ready-to-go meals can also be delivered via Deliveroo.
This comes as the rapid grocery delivery service has opened its first physical grocery store in the UK in partnership with Morrisons.
Located on New Oxford Street, London the Deliveroo HOP store offers 1,750 grocery items including Morrisons ‘Ready to Eat’ and ‘The Best’ ranges, as well as cupboard staples, snacks and dinner ingredients.
