Terry’s launches new vegan Chocolate Orange containing rice syrup

Terry’s has launched a new plant-based Chocolate Orange designed for “sweet-toothed vegans”, made using rice syrup instead of dairy.

Using the same orange oil essence to create its signature citrus flavour, the confectionary brand has aimed to design the taste to be as “close as possible” to the original, it said.

Officially approved by charity The Vegan Society, the new product is being sold in in Sainsbury’s, Ocado, Nisa and other selected convenience stores with an RRP of £2.50.

The launch is the latest in a number of vegan chocolate reveals from confectionery giants, including Cadbury and Lindt, who both debuted their own plant-based bars late last year.

“We absolutely did not want to compromise on taste, and after months of development, we think we have found the perfect recipe,” Terry’s brand manager Victoria MacDonald said.

She added that the brand aimed to be “accessible to as many people as possible, so launching a plant-based Terry’s bar was a must for us.”

Wrapped in fully recyclable packaging, the product offers “even more options for sweet-toothed vegans,” The Vegan Society said.
