Soft drink giant PepsiCo has fully ceased production in Russia after months of promising to suspend sales and production as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
A spokesperson for the FMCG giant told Reuters the production of its products, which include Pepsi, 7UP and Mountain Dew, has stopped “in line with” an announcement it made in March announcing a suspension of production, sales, advertising and promotions after the country was hit with sanctions.
In March, PepsiCo announced it is suspending the sale of brands such as Pepsi and 7Up but will “stay true to the humanitarian aspect of our business” by continuing to provide “daily essentials such as milk and other dairy offerings, baby formula and baby food.”
It added: “By continuing to operate, we will also continue to support the livelihoods of our 20,000 Russian associates and the 40,000 Russian agricultural workers in our supply chain as they face significant challenges and uncertainty ahead.”
However, now, “all concentrates have subsequently been exhausted in Russia and production has ended,” a spokesperson told Reuters.
The spokesperson also declined to comment when asked whether sales had been halted as well.
