Too Good To Go available across Scotland through Spar partnership

Too Good To Go is now available across Scotland through wholesaler CJ Lang and Son, wholesaler for Spar Scotland, with the objective to offer customers an innovative digital solution to reduce food waste.

Spar International entered into a partnership agreement with Too Good To Go in December 2020.

CJ Lang & Son are expanding their partnership with Too Good Go “in the hope of inspiring and empowering customers in Scotland to take action in the fight against food waste.”

The partnership provides a creative, simple solution to preventing in-store food waste.

Too Good To Go is an app that enables customers to pick up unsold food from shops and restaurants to save it from going to waste, often for a discounted price.

It also allows Spar customers to purchase ‘magic bags’ of miscellaneous surplus stock, close to the end of its shelf life but still within its best before date.

“As part of our fight against food waste and in alliance with our digital strategy, we are delighted to be in partnership with Too Good to Go to reduce food wastage across all our company owned stores,” said Spar central operations director, Sonya Harper.

“We are pleased to say that we have saved over 7,200 meals going to waste and saved over 17 tonnes of CO2e in these trial stores.”

The news comes as Spar clears up UK coastlines in Million Mile clean-up initiative.
