Co-op stores to roll out Fox’s HFSS compliant sweets range

FMCGNews

Valeo’s confectionary brand, Fox’s Glacier has announced its new high in fat, salt or sugar (HFSS) complaint sugar free sweets range set to launch in over 2,500 Co-op stores.

The range comes as market research from Degusta reveals 50% of confectionary consumers are interested in a sugar-free option of the hard boiled sweets.

Fox’s Glacier will be joining the UK’s brands looking to produce healthier food options as the government is set to introduce upcoming restrictions on multibuy deals and promoting HFSS foods in a bid to tackle obesity in the UK.

Launching on 15 August in flavours including lemon, elderflower & mint and strawberry & banana smoothie at RRP £1.20, the sweet range will be sold in recyclable pocket sized cartons, adding to the brand’s on-the-go snacks.

“These new sugar free variants are a natural next step for Fox’s, which have longstanding heritage as a household favourite,” Valeo Snackfoods marketing director, Russell Tanner said.

“Fox’s is well positioned to move into the health-conscious confectionery market, and as each Sugar Free sweet is only 8kcal, it makes for the perfect longer lasting, permissible sweet treat.

“We pride ourselves on using high-quality ingredients that suit a range of dietary needs, without compromising on taste, and the new sugar free flavours are no exception.”

This news comes as Tesco is set to stock doughnut brand, Urban Legend which uses cutting-edge science to reformulate its bakery products with a 50-75% reduced HFSS content across its London stores in a bid to provide shoppers with healthier food options.
