M&S voted UK’s favourite supermarket as it scoops top accolades

M&S has been named the UK’s favourite supermarket in the annual Good Housekeeping Food Awards.

The accolade comes as M&S emphasised its continued focus on driving forward with its transformation plan, “creating a more digital and omnichannel M&S” as part of its aim to become the UK’s “most trusted retailer”.

Claiming the top spot in a number of different categories, the high street retail giant was also named Favourite Wine Retailer, following a raft of other awards for its vast selection of wines.

Adding to its successes, M&S was also named Favourite Storecupboard Hero for its “unbeatable” mix of essentials and more unusual ingredients, Favourite Premium Supermarket Range for its ‘Our Best Ever’ range, and Favourite Organic Brand for M&S Organic.

The awards, which were voted for by thousands of readers from one of the UK’s leading consumer publications, saw M&S receive more awards than any other retailer.

“Our goal is to protect the magic of our great quality, great value M&S products and modernise the way we bring these to our customers,” said M&S boss Stuart Machin.

“That’s what our transformative store renewal programme is all about and we’ve made some brilliant progress over the past two years rolling the format out to 45 stores.

He added: “Being named the nation’s favourite supermarket is recognition of the great work we’ve achieved but there is still more to do.

“We must continue to modernise our store estate and drive forward with our transformation, creating a more digital and omnichannel M&S that offers consistently great quality and value to our customers.

“This is how we will achieve our aim of becoming the most trusted retailer in the UK where people love to work and shop.”
